Duryodhanan was the first virtual/augmented reality theatre production of Singapore Tamil theatre. The launch was graced by Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law, Mr Edwin Tong on 20 February 2021 at National Gallery Singapore.

Key invited guests included Deputy CE, Sector Development, National Arts Council, Head ( Indian audience) MediaCorp, Indian Heritage Centre GM, Director (Head of Community programming) Esplanade, Justice of Peace and SIET Chairman and many more.

Duryodhanan had added value to its strong contributions to Tamil theatre’s recent advent in digital productions. Duryodhanan was the maiden Tamil theatre production that leveraged on the use of volumetric capture / augmented reality technology. Partnering with Vostok VR- an award-winning VR technology and motion capture company, AGAM took the leap of faith in turning this new venture into a new norm in the realms of virtual performances and challenged the notions of traditional theatre. This has allowed us as an organisation to push the boundaries of conventional theatre-making and allow us to use this opportunity that COVID-19 has presented to us to test the potential of a new technology in theatre. This project has been supported by the National Arts Council and Tamil Language Learning and Promotion Committee.
